Position Summary

The Radiology Assistant performs specific clerical duties and aids technologists to help with the proper functioning of the department. Specifically, this includes transportation of patients, taking patients to and from examination rooms, assures patients are appropriately gowned, assists with drawing contrast material into automatic injector, setting up sterile trays and obtaining appropriate information for patient examinations. This position coordinates communication activities between radiologists, staff and other departments. This role is also responsible for the accurate maintenance for patient medical records and enters new information in accordance with department standards, including uploading images from PACS .

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

Utilizes all electronic systems effectively and appropriately.

Assists with clerical duties.

Demonstrates the required technical knowledge to assist with positioning and paperwork utilized for CT exams and procedures while providing quality patient care and safety.

Performs quality assistance to patients of all ages and conditions.

Assures appropriate patient identification is performed and indication and history for exam is documented.

Demonstrates the required technical knowledge to interact with patients regarding types of exams that are being done, preparation for the exam including all lab values needed.

Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate, legally sound and complete radiology records.

Demonstrates ability to provide information to patients, family members or other customers regarding the examinations performed in the Radiology department.

Demonstrates the ability to communicate in an appropriate manner and answers telephones expediently and efficiently using department specific greeting and enthusiastic voice inflections. Interacts in a positive and constructive manner with everyone.

Ability to be at work and be on time.

Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.

Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.

Ability to prioritize and multitask.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

        1-year experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred

        Radiology or Imaging experience preferred

        Knowledge of medial terminology preferred

Education/Licensure/Certification:

·        High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
