Position Summary
The Clinical Supervisor assumes leadership accountability and responsibility for the Hospice and Palliative Clinical teams. The supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating all operations of the department according to the policies, procedures, standards, and standard work that guide the processes for the assigned department. Responsibilities include the assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of individuals and processes for the department to ensure consistent high-quality, cost-effective patient care. The Supervisor has the responsibility to manage material and labor resources and team development as defined in the departmental annual budget. The success of the department is inherent in the incumbent's ability to demonstrate positive, professional communication with patients, families, physicians, departmental and interdepartmental staff to optimize workflow and to facilitate problem identification and resolution. Participates in and accepts responsibility for functions delegated by the Director.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Models an interdisciplinary approach and collaborates with physician to achieve optimal operational efficiency.
Creates a supportive and healthy work environment through clinical and administrative leadership and expertise.
Embraces a Lean mindset and utilizes the plan -d0-study-act (PDSA) performance improvement model.
Ensures accountability to achieve financial targets through daily management activities.
Participates on multi-professional teams that contribute to role development and, directly or in-directly, advance nursing practice.
Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills for decision making.
Manages patient care in a collaborative and timely manner and serves as a resource to staff and physicians
Fosters transparency, interdisciplinary collaboration and accountability in team members.
Demonstrates optimal critical thinking skills and the ability to prioritize unit activities.
Facilitates education opportunities for nursing orientees and students.
Oversees evaluation process for staff on yearly basis.
Conducts chart audits on assigned staff members to assess compliance with all documentation requirements
Manages staffing, scheduling and supply utilization to achieve financial target as evidenced by meeting or exceeding budgetary targets.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Experience
- 5 years of Hospice experience preferred
- Supervisor and/or nursing leadership experience preferred
Education
- Current CA RN license
- BSN preferred
- Hospice and Palliative Care Certification preferred
