Position Summary

This position performs/assists the Executive Director with the planning, managing, and controlling of the day-to-day operations and services provided by the Construction Department. The Project Manager position has overall responsibility for Capital planning, design and construction project management.The Project Manager aides in insuring that a safe and positive environment of care is maintained by the various systems, program, and staff members within the facility, including strict adherence to the interim life safety assessment and implementation processes.The Project Manager has ownership of all Capital planning, design and construction projects assigned by the Executive Director and leads each project from budgeting through completion. Knowledge of Seismic SPC/NPC Requirements, building code and regulatory requirements are required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Assists in the development of and makes recommendations regarding new procedures and approaches to safety and loss prevention based on reports on incidents, accidents and other relevant information.

  • Manages the design and construction of Captial projects by preparing and conforming to project budget, schedule, and scoping documents.

  • Reviews construction drawings for accuracy of existing conditions and constructability.

  • Prepares statement of probable cost for projects and generates capital project checklists.

  • Coordinates and is responsible to follow and enforce ILSM and ICRA policies.

  • Coordinates RFP process for architectural, engineering, and inspection services. 

  • Coordinates with hospital stakeholders, facilies, staff and senior leadership construction schedule impacts, phasing, and downtime that effect operations. 

  • Observes and regularly reports contractor progress. Monitors contractor activity to ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures. 

  • Reviews and recommends the approval of contractor pay requests. Tracks project costs and compares to approved budget.

  • Ensures services areas comply with all applicable regulatory requirements and construction codes.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' in the management of construction projects, preferably including hospital construction.

  • Minimum 5 years' supervisory experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of project management including the use of: project scheduling techniques; cost estimating; construction materials and methods used in health care facilities.

  • Familiarity with Joint Commission, NFPA, and Title 24 codes and regulations.

  • Detailed knowledge of the process of preparing construction documents for health-care facilities.

  • Familiarity with the various project-delivery methods used in health-care facilities.                                  

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, related field or 5 to 7 years' hospital experience required.

  • Licensed Inspector of Record – OSHPD preferred.

  • Professional license, registration, or certification preferred.

  • Valid California drivers license and vehicle insurance (California minimum) required.
