Position Summary

The Lead Cardiovascular Radiologic Technologist performs duties directly related to cardiac and peripheral vascular imaging and assists physicians on all procedures within the scope of Invasive Cardiology. The Lead Cardiovascular Radiology Technologist performs radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures. They assist physicians by scrubbing and monitoring physiologic hemodynamic data, as related to the procedures. The Lead Cardiovascular Radiologic Technologist assists in patient care and preparation of the lab by performing routine and delegated technical and clerical duties.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

·Performs radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures to a patient population of neonate through geriatric. Assists physicians by scrubbing and monitoring physiologic hemodynamic data, as related to the procedures. Assists in patient care and preparation of the lab by performing routine and delegated technical and clerical duties.

·Performs Quality Control and Quality Assessments of imaging and all other equipment to ensure safe and reliable function and operation.

·Assists with patient care on all procedures performed in Invasive Cardiology to include procedural set-up and patient preparation. Identifies appropriate procedure to be performed, prepares equipment for procedures to include cleanliness of exam area and equipment, ensures proper documentation of patient demographics in all applicable equipment, performs imaging procedures in an accurate and efficient manner. Assists physician with applicable devices per procedure

·Evaluates and attends to patient’s physical and emotional needs before, during and after procedures to ensure proper patient care and positive examination experience. Maintains accurate record keeping and perform required clerical duties for each exam to comply with current billing procedures.

·Practices radiation protection measures per hospital Radiation Safety Program to ensure exposure to patients and staff is “As Low As Reasonably Achievable” (ALARA). Provides safe contrast media administration with accurate dose documentation.

·Maintains a safe, clean and efficient working environment. Provides safe equipment operation through proper maintenance and care. Keeps work area and equipment neat and clean at all times. Ensures supplies are optimally stocked at all times and integrity of sterile fields with adherence to hospital policy. Maintains Radiation Safety Program requirements per hospital policy

·Maintains up-to-date knowledge of procedures and techniques performed in Invasive Cardiology through in-services, conferences and other educational opportunities. Possesses proficient knowledge and operation of hospital patient information systems. Evaluates department equipment issues and the ability to troubleshoot or triage for repair as indicated.

·Performs as departmental Lead Personnel with active participation in the planning and organizing of daily operations. Oversees and assists with training and orientation of other personnel as needed. Participates in the planning, development and organization of Invasive Cardiology programs. Responsible for coordinating maintenance and repair of department equipment. Provides program leadership, imaging leadership and work-ethic leadership within Invasive Cardiology.

·Performs as scrub personnel on all procedures performed in Invasive Cardiology. Participates On-Call with adherence to hospital policy.

·Performs other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

·        2+ years experience as a Radiologic Technologist in Cath Lab or Special Procedures.

·        Previous lead or supervisory experience is preferred

Education/Licensure/Certification:

·        Associate's degree preferred.

·        Graduate of approved school of radiologic technology by Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA), Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or American Medical Association (AMA).

·        Current Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) and Fluoroscopy licenses required.

·        Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified.
