Position Summary
The Human Resources (HR) Manager will partner with the Director, Human Resources for the Long Beach Region to provide comprehensive HR coverage to support the needs of their client base location(s). Their primary purpose is to lead people and culture initiatives and aide in the development of World Class Leaders bringing best practice HR people leadership skills, knowledge and tools. Their primary client base will include employees, managers, and other HR colleagues. The Manager will provide experienced guidance in the areas of labor management (including Workers Compensation, Unemployment and leave management) workflow process, HRIS systems, organizational structure, recruitment and retention, employee engagement, grievances, training, compensation and employee relations guidance. The manager will have exceptional communication skills and function fairly independently with competence and confidence.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Manages investigations and resolution of various employee issues. Conducts investigations and makes recommendations based on policy and procedure interpretation.
Ensures policies and practices conform to state and federal standards and guidelines.
Tactical and operational execution of project management for various HR projects.
Liaison between management and HR to ensure that HR services are aligned with internal customer needs.
Promotes involvement of managers in HR processes.
Identifies and drives the communication and sharing of best practices across functions.
Facilitates conflict resolution, serves as a mentor.
Consults with managers in disciplinary issues and terminations.
Provides oversight on unemployment claims and hearings.
Interprets policies and counsel’s managers and employees on HR policies, ensuring uniform standards are maintained and compliance requirements are met.
Acts as a liaison with managers and teams during planning, design, and implementation of key business initiatives.
Conducts briefing sessions for employees and managers on new or revised HR initiatives and facilitates HR training and development when needed
Assists managers in crafting development, disciplinary, and grievance response communications that are clear, comprehensive, and appropriate.
Manages and executes HR related projects and performs other duties as assigned or requested.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
5 years’ experience in Human Resources experience required
Employee Relations experience required.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience in Human Resources, preferably in an acute care setting.
Master's degree preferred.
Certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR or SPHR) preferred.
