Position Summary
Accountable for daily operations and supervisory functions. Works collaboratively with the medical staff leadership and administrative leadership regarding credentialing and privileging, medical staff and allied health professional Policies and Procedures, Bylaws, and Rules and Regulations, to ensure regulatory compliance, and professionalism. Facilitates peer review functions (MPEC) and OPPE processes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Ensures regulatory compliance with the day-to-day functions of Medical Staff Services.
Guides the Medical Staff leaders in proper credentialing procedures and quality issues, and oversees the day-to-day credentialing processes for physicians and allied health professionals.
Responsible for other Medical Staff functions including, but not limited to, medical staff committee and department meetings, medical staff representation in hospital-wide committees and functions, and communication with the medical staff.
Supervises staff within the medical staff services department on day-to-day operations.
Responsible for Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) to assure compliance with set timelines, reporting, policy and procedures.
Assists the Director in providing managerial support to the staff and acts in the capacity of the Medical Staffs Director’s designee in charge of the office when the Director is absent from the facility. Demonstrates leadership skills and effectively allocates resources. Assists the Director in identifying opportunities for improvement or special projects, and acts as a facilitator in implementation.
Maintains current knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation standards, State and Federal regulatory requirements.
Maintains current knowledge of LBMMC and MCWH Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Policies and Procedures.
Performs all responsibilities in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Policies and Procedures, accreditation standards, and state and federal regulatory requirements.
Ensures that resource equipment, supplies, and manuals are ordered, updated, and maintained for all assigned areas of responsibility.
Assesses areas for improvement within assigned areas of responsibility, develops and implements related policies and procedures, ensures timely updates to credentialing policies and practices.
Acts as the MSO liaison for Vizient.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years' medical staff services experience required.
Minimum 3 years' leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of medico-legal issues and laws, regulatory agency requirements and standards; medical terminology
Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively utilizing both written and verbal skills.
Must have excellent knowledge of credentialing functions and regulatory standards.
Has independent problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities; flexibility, perseverance, and diplomacy.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience preferred.
Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM) required.
