Position Summary

The Psycholgical Assistant provides evaluation and intervention services to children with cancer and blood diseases and their families and participates in clinical research relevant to this population.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  1. Under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, performs psychological evaluations and interventions to children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders and their families (as required). Provides crisis intervention, as well as individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
  2. Provides school reintegration services for newly diagnosed children with cancer and blood diseases, those currently on treatment, and those experiencing or at risk for late effects, aimed at facilitating long term academic, social, and emotional adjustment
  3. Under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, provides neuropsychological assessment to assist children reintegrate into the school and social environment. Provides on-going assessment as part of the late effects team.
  4. Coordinates patient/family support groups.
  5. Participation in a clinical research project to be determined based upon projects developed and funding received.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned including on-call coverage

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Experience

  • Experience in pediatric clinical psychology or other child population required, along with experience and training in neuropsychological evaluation. Must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken language. Must be personable and able to work with a multidisciplinary team.

Education

  • Doctoral degree in clinical, counseling, or educational psychology required. The person shall register himself or herself with the board of psychology as a psychological assistant upon hire.
