Position Summary

This position provides speech language pathology services to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in order to facilitate the highest level of independence and recovery from or adaptation to various deficits or disabilities through: providing evaluation and assessment, functional activities, therapeutic exercise, procedures, education and training.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Evaluates adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Develops individualized treatment plans and patient centered goals. Monitors and documents patient progress and modifies treatment plan as needed.

  • Schedules and coordinates patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary team, across the continuum of care in Adult Rehab Therapies, including radiology.

  • Provides patient treatment and patient/family education for each assigned patient.

  • Schedules and coordinates patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary team.

  • Maintains all required documentation for each patient in compliance with regulations and expectations of assigned area.

  • Supervises rehabilitation technicians in their role as care extenders in the clinical setting.

  • Continues to develop individual knowledge base of best practices, new techniques, technologies and participates in continuing education activities.

  • Participates in continuous departmental quality improvement projects as able.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • No Previous work experience necessary. A Required Professional Experience (RPE) plan must be filed with the California Speech Pathology Board office. The RPE applicant and identified supervisor must file an Application for Temporary Required Professional Experience License.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • At a minimum, must complete credits towards Master’s degree in Speech Pathology and be eligible for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).

  • Current temporary RPE license or Speech Pathology license in the State of California.

  • Current BLS (CPR) from the American Heart Association.

    6. Provides direct patient care 75% of the time and documents productivity on a daily basis.
    7. Demonstrates excellent time management skills.
    8. Consistently applies with safety and infection control policies and procedures and other applicable policies.
    9. Participates in quality improvement, departmental specific education activities and staff meetings as able.
