MA Level 1 – 0 to 2 year of Experience Pay Range: $22.89/hr - $33.18/hr

MA Level 2 – 2+ years of Experience Pay Range: $25.22/hr - $36.57/hr

$2,500 signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.

Position Summary

Responsible for the front office duties of all medical practices as assigned and/or supports clinical care team members with the delivery of patient care in accordance with Medical Assistant Scope of Practice.

Essential Job Outcomes

·Meet ambulatory Medical Assistant clinical competencies.

·Follow standard work for patient care processes.

·Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, and perform point‑of‑care testing (e.g., INR, glucose) as needed. Assess patients for urgent medical needs and notify the provider appropriately.

·Under pharmacist supervision, administer medications (e.g., insulin, flu vaccine) and perform monofilament foot exams and retinal photography.

·Maintain effective and organized systems to ensure:
a. Timely patient flow
b. Adequate room supplies
c. Proper instrument maintenance
d. Adherence to infection control, universal precautions, and proper PPE use
e. Availability of all necessary reports and information in the Electronic Health Record
f. Completion and maintenance of required logs and routine checks

·Provide patient instructions as ordered by the provider.

·Implement provider orders and components of the teaching plan as directed by licensed care team members.

·Schedule appointments according to department guidelines.

·Review provider schedules for accuracy, correct scheduling errors promptly, and notify the supervisor of any issues or concerns.

·Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, timely, and reflective of the patient’s plan of care.

·Demonstrate ongoing development of clinical expertise and maintain current knowledge of healthcare trends relevant to ambulatory practice.

·Participate in activities that improve the standard of care and enhance ambulatory clinical practice.

·Monitor the EHR in‑basket continuously and process items accordingly.

·Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

·Perform additional duties as requested by management within the MA scope of knowledge and ability.

·Other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years 20 experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements 

Experience

  • Two (2) years’ experience in ambulatory care environment preferred.

        ·     Requires the ability to work in settings involving potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids

Education

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Certificate from Accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
  • Billingual English/Spanish preferred.
