Position Summary

Food Service worker II/Host/Hostess is an entry-level position and reflects a basic level of knowledge. The Food Service worker II/Host/Hostess is responsible for collaborating with members of the Food and Nutrition Services department and nursing/ancillary staff to ensure patients’ meal selections and trays follow the doctor’s orders. The primary role of the Food Service worker II/Host/Hostess is to enter meal selections, food preferences/intolerances, nourishments & supplements into Computrition. The Dietary Host/Hostess also passes trays to patients at meal time, stocks floors and prepares and delivers nourishment’s/tube feedings. The Food Service worker II/Host/Hostess ensures tube feeding and nourishment stocks are rotated, and perform other tasks as assigned by the Clinical Dietitian Supervisor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

·Ability to enter patient meal selections and preferences into Computrition according to the physician’s diet order

·Deliver trays to patients at meal time, and delivers nourishments and tube feeds according to established schedules.

·Ability to stock pantries and completes floor stock forms for patient floors and other areas following the First In First Out guidelines.

·Ability to monitor patient refrigerators for temperatures and cleanliness, and report discrepancies to supervisor as needed.

·Provide excellent customer service and ability to communicate with nursing and diet office staff to ensure patients’ needs are met.

·Demonstrates the ability to apply infection control policies/procedures for safe food handling.

·Demonstrate ability to contribute as a team member to complete tasks, resolve problems, and achieve department goals.

·Ability to mentor new host/hostess team members by assisting with guidance as needed

·Ability to be at work and be on time

·Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives

·Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner

·Ability to prioritize and multitask

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

·        Follows patient safety procedure for tray passing, along with good customer service skills. Complies with patient safety goals for patient identification.

·        Able to enter patient meal selections into Computrition. Offers appropriate menu items and substitutions according to age specific population when helping patient with meal selections.

·        Tube feeding storage/inventory/ floor stock completed when assigned; uses FIFO guidelines

·        Prepares and delivers tube feeding nourishments at scheduled times.

·        Floor pantries are maintained, adequate floor stock, records refrigerator temperatures & ability to perform other related duties

·        “Other duties as assigned”

Education/Licensure/Certification:

·        High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
