Position Summary

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. The GI Lab Technician works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and physician. This position is responsible for supporting the GI Lab Department to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. The GI Lab Technician maintains smooth, effective communication and collaboration between healthcare practitioners, departments and patients. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to: management and maintenance of instruments and equipment, data collection, advanced knowledge of diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, and is accountable for patient transfer and discharge flow processes. This position must meet call requirement and able to be cross trained to the Pre-op Unit.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

• One year GI Lab Tech experience in acute or outpatient setting preferred. In lieu of this experience, consideration will be made for staff with strong education and associated experiential background.

• Completion of a GI Tech program preferred

• ERCP trained/assist preferred

• Computer, order entry and word processing experience preferred

• GI procedure, including ERCP nursing experience preferred

 

Education/Licensure/Certification:

• Current BLS required

• GI Tech Certification preferred

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
