Base Salary Range*:  $135,000 to $165,000

Position Summary

MemorialCare Medical Group seeks a full-time Physician Assistant to join our Oncology team in Orange County, California. The ideal candidate is passionate about women’s health, caring for women with cancer in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Duties will include surgical first assist, inpatient rounds and outpatient clinic. Experience strongly preferred; the selected candidate will work closely and collaboratively with our Gynecologic Oncologist.

Practice Information

·Selected PA must have reliable transportation to travel between our sites located in/around Fountain Valley, Irvine, and Laguna Hills. The Gynecologic Oncologist performs surgeries at Orange Coast Medical Center (Fountain Valley) and Saddleback Medical Center (Laguna Hills).

·Full-time, salaried/exempt (Monday through Friday schedule)

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Provide history and physical as appropriate for each patient.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist the physician in diagnosing, treating and managing patients
  • Provide high quality patient care that is guided by protocols and standardized procedures. 
  • Maintain legible, accurate and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals and consultation.
  • Order and schedule laboratory studies, imaging studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Formulate a treatment plan.
  • Uses evidence-based practice guidelines and assessment tools.
  • Prescribe medication and treatments and monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Complete documentation and patient billing in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Facilitate patient and family education.
  • Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
  • Provide symptom management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Experience

Previous work experience as a Physician Assistant in an Oncology setting is strongly preferred. Specialty training/experience beneficial.

 

Education

  • Must have completed an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current, active, unrestricted licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Licensed to practice in California
  • National Certification in related specialty 
  • Current BLS certification
  • DEA certificate and NPI number
